Do I list myself as a California resident if I did a 6 month internship there, staying in an AirBNB? I lived in NY for the rest of the year.

I'm a university student originally from NJ (with NJ drivers license), attended college in NY for 6 months, then interned in CA for 6 months

No, you would not be a California resident.  

 

You’re a resident if either apply:

Present in California for other than a temporary or transitory purpose
Domiciled in California, but outside California for a temporary or transitory purpose
