Can I claim my wife as a dependant? she does not work and I do.

    In order to assist you properly, can you please give us more details.

     

    Is your wife dependent on you due to a physical or mental impairment?

     

    If not, you should be able to claim the Spouse amount - line 30300. This amount can be claimed if, at any time in the year, you supported your spouse and their net income from line 23600 of their return was less than your basic personal amount.
