Question

I am filing my taxes as separated, and my spouse has not yet filed his taxes. Do I use last years amounts instead?

His tax deadline is June, and won't be getting them done until May.

Your spouse's net income for the tax year is required to calculate certain spousal credits. If you don’t know their net income, you can enter an estimate for now, and then put in the correct amount before filing. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for more information: What if I don't know my spouse's income?

FYI: If your spouse has self-employment income, then you don't have to file until June 15th. However, both you and your spouse need to pay any taxes owning before May 2, 2022. Please see this Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) page for more information: Due dates and payment dates
