570 hold

I have a 570 hold without a 971 (yet). Processing and 570 code both dated 3/03, and there's a note "as of March 10th" so I'm hopeful some sort of communication will be initiated Monday. I filed 2/03. I understand that a 570 hold could be for various reasons and bothering the IRS before they contact me will likely be futile.

Question: my W2 loaded on the IRS site shows wages of $1 less than what my physical W2/filed return shows and vice versa for federal income tax withheld. I've read that the SSA (who apparently forwards our wage info to IRS) rounds down, while the IRS rounds up, so I would think this to be a common occurrence, but could something that small cause the system to flag for review? Just a bit of impatient investigating as I wait.

It's always possible that a rounding error caused them to review your return.  It's just not likely.

The most likely reasons are credits (earned income credit or electric vehicle credit or the like) or identity issues.
