Amended Return for Missing 1099-R

Can I e-file my Amended Return?  Do I have to submit a hard copy of the missing 1099-R?  If so, does this negate my ability to e-file the amended return?  Also, can I automatically have the new additional amount due taken from my bank checking account?  My original return has been Accepted.  A week later I discovered that I omitted one 1099-R.  Turbo Tax suggests that I can e-file, but would it be better to mail the amended return along with the additional payment?

Yes, you can e-file a 2024 Amended Return. Please see Can I e-file my federal Form 1040-X amended return? for details.

No, if you e-file your return then you do not need to submit a hard copy of the missing 1099-R.

Yes, you can select to have the new additional amount due taken from my bank checking account during the TurboTax interview. You can also make payments on the IRS website.

Generally, it is best the wait until the original return has been processed before sending the Amended Return.

No, you can choose to e-file or mail the return according to your preference.
