Amending a missing 1099-int

I just submitted my taxes return today and realized I forgot a 1099-int that is about $700. It is a week away from the tax deadline. I know I need to file an amendment.
What happens if I can’t amend until after 4/15 because the original returns is still processing?

can I amend it and pay what I owe before my original payment clears?
When I add my 1099-int onto the amendment, will this recalculate how much I owe and will I be able to send it similarly through  TurboTax?

Do not file the amendment until the original return is fully processed.

    • The original return will fulfill the filing deadline.
    • You have 3 years from 04/15/2025 to file an amendment for 2024 taxes.
    • Wait until the original payment clears, then use IRS Payment options to make the final payment.
    • Your amended return will start at zero.  Ant additional tax will be calculated from there.
