Question

Amending taxes due to improper health care claims

I received premium tax credits for partial of the year in 2024, but feel that I am overpaying in federal taxes as I was not offered health insurance through my employer on a given month that I received the premium tax credit. Is it worth amending my taxes to help gather a more accurate amount that I owe?

if the 1095-A is correct, I don't see where you have anything to amend.

If you had health insurance during the month it was not offered by your employer, that is a good thing. Since your:

    • income for the year won't change and
    • 1095-A is correct.

I don't understand what you think could change. However, if you did not have insurance and are being penalized, see Health Coverage Exemptions - IRS.
