(966) We are unable to verify your w-2 or 1099 form(s) as submitted with your return. Some or all of the withholding or refundable credits have been denied. Please provide copies of your year end or land paystub for the tax  year in questions along with w2 or 1099(s).

I went from getting a refund to owing $20000.

This generally happens if they did not receive your W2's from your employers or they received more W2's that you reported. They do this to avoid fraud. As long as the W2's you used to file your return are legit, you will be fine. Send them copies of your W2's and your year end paystub, if you have it, to them.

I’m sending the requested documents and then will see what comes of it. I was owed $24k by the state and now they’re asking me to pay $20k. Mind you, I even got a federal refund and owed essentially nothing to the two other states that I worked in. I only lived/worked in MD half of the year. What is the year-end paystub? Is it the last paystub received from each place that I worked even if I wasn’t still employed there at the end of the year?
This is frustrating when you pay this much to turbotax, triple review  and still get screwed without repercussions on their part.

send any document that shows the final full amount of withholding by various entities for the State of MD.
