I applied for a tax refund and my application was accepted. At the time I applied, my bank account was active, but now it is not. Can I change my bank account?

Once the tax return has been filed the bank information of direct deposit of a tax refund cannot be changed.

Since the account is no longer active, the bank will refuse the deposit and return the deposit back to the IRS. The IRS will then mail a refund check to the address on the tax return.
