Decedent Estate 2022 Tax Return

As the trustee for my father's irrevocable trust, I filed a  2022 income tax return for Estates and Trusts (Decedent Estate). The trust had it's own EIN. The taxes were paid when the return was filed in March 2023. All assets of the Trust were sold and distributed in 2022. There wasn't any Trust income in 2023 nor any tax return to be filed.

About a week ago, The Trust received a letter from the IRS, however, I never received it as my mail is being forwarded to my temporary address. I don't think IRS letters are allowed to be forwarded.

The letter came from the IRS in Ogden, Utah. The return address also says "1041-ES". Is it possible that the IRS letter included 2025 Estimated Tax vouchers for the Trust?  How is the best way to find out about the letter?

Thanks.

No, the IRS does not send estimate vouchers. If your letter has a phone number, that would be the starting place. If not, there is an estate number 866.699.4083 for estate questions. Good luck!
