Do I have to enter the bank name when I setup payment to IRS since the routing number provides that?

I didn’t enter bank name because I thought routing number would communicate the bank name. But it’s been three weeks and payment hasn’t cleared bank. Should I resubmit the payment info? I don’t want it to end up going through twice.

    The bank name is not necessary if the routing number you entered was correct for your bank.

     

    Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
