I accidentally filed my 2023 w2 with my 2024 w2, it was accepted and is now processing with the IRS. Will they automatically adjust the changes or do I need to amend my return. If I need to amend my return do I need to wait after the processing stage is done with my taxes or can I do it now?

You made a mistake by putting two different years of income on the same tax return, but somehow the IRS accepted your return and is processing it?  WAIT for the return to be fully processed.  Do not try to change anything on your return now.   Sometimes the IRS catches and corrects mistakes.  If they do not catch this, then after it has been fully processed, you should amend.

Yes they accepted my return and when I check the website it says processing. I haven’t gotten a date as to when I will get my taxes, so with this mistake will it take longer to receive my taxes? They were accepted Feb. 20th. Also will I receive a notice as to further action on what I should do if the IRS does catch it?

You must file an amended return. The IRS may take quite some time to reconcile the return with your W-2s, which means any tax balance due back to them will accrue interest and penalty for each day paid late (likely beginning on April 16th).  Use the link below to file your amended return immediately since you have proof your return has been accepted and is processing.

If you get a refund you should be prepared to repay some of the money possibly. By preparing the amendment you will have an idea where you stand.
