Question

Had to Amend my return

We filed our taxes and were due a refund of about $3,300. Then my husband’s company gave him a 2nd W2 late. Our refund was intercepted due to being on a payment arrangement. Then when we filed our amendment, it reduced the amount of our refund to just over $2800. Will the IRS just adjust the amount intercepted already since it still would have given us the over $2800 refund with the amended return?

Yes.  If you have an outstanding balance due amount with the IRS, they use your refund to offset that amount, up to the amount you owe.  If your refund amount changed due to filing an amended return they will adjust your account accordingly.   If your overpayment (refund) went from $3,300 to $2,800 the IRS will only apply $2,800 towards the amount you owed.  You don't need to take any action.
