How do I amend my 2022 tax return to add Form 982 to offset my 1099-C for canceled debt amount?

I'm not sure what section to list the Form 982 to my prior tax return. I need to offset the 1099-C debt amount and amend my taxes.

TurboTax does not support the 982- you can get a copy of it from the IRS at Form 982, Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness (and Section 1082 Basis Adjustment). In TurboTax, add the amended form, but you are not adding the income so type the description that you are adding the 982- then print and mail the 1040X and the 982 to the IRS.
