how do i change a specific box on my tax returns that is incorrect

I won money from another state in gambling winnings. It is documented on the out of state tax return, but then again in wages and salaries. How do I change the wages and salaries box to 0?

It depends. If you entered your gambling winnings using a W-2G it would not be part of your W-2 wages. Likewise you would not enter the winnings in your W-2.

 

You can enter your winnings using the steps below, or if you have a W-2G use the link.

Other Miscellaneous Income:

  1. Sign into your TurboTax Online account
  2. Go to Tax Home (left panel)  Wages and Income  section
  3. Scroll to  Less Common Income > Select  Gambling Winnings
  4. Select Other reportable Income > Enter a description (----) and the amount
