how do I correct claimed I bond interest in wrong year

I filed an amended form for 2023 because I claimed interest on I-bonds that I sold in 2024 by mistake but the IRS rejected it.  What forms and how do I get to them in Turbotax Deluxe.  I clamed the I-bonds on my 2024 taxes.

It sounds like you tried to amend your 2023 tax return but it was rejected.

If that's the case, please see What does my rejected return code mean and how do I fix it? for more details on fixing the rejection message.

If you are unable to electronically file it, you still have the option of mailing in the amended return.  Please see Can I e-file my federal Form 1040-X amended return? for more details.

You apparently didn't look at the question!  I can file amended taxes, but nowhere in Turbo Tax does it tell me how to correct the problem of paying interest on I-bonds in 2023 when they should of been paid in 2024.

How did you enter the bond interest?  Go to the 1099 interest section and delete the entry you made.

    Federal

    Wages & Income

    Interest and Dividends

Interest on 1099-INT - Click the Start or Update button

Bond interest should be in box 3.  But just delete the whole 1099INT.
