How do you cancel any return or amendment

If you've already filed a tax return, or an amendment, you cannot retrieve them.

You will have to wait for the IRS to evaluate, or process it.

• If it was rejected, you can simply start it over.
• If the IRS has accepted it, several things can happen
  • It can be processed, and you would then be able to do an amended return.
  • You could get a Tax notice.
    • If you had a problem on the return, this may identify it
    • Use the phone number on the notice to contact the IRS
