I do not usually have any issues with Turbotax. I completed my taxes earlier and sent 01/22. It's been in pending status this whole time, IRS not showing received? Help?

Can it be due to EV credits claimed? No EIC, Education credits claimed?

I also claimed EV credit and home energy efficiency credit and mine has been pending since 1/28. Not sure if it’s a turbotax issue or IRS being backlogged.

My returns are usually accepted fast within the same day or 24 hours later. I've never had to wait this long to be accepted by IRS. As you said, I don't know if this is a Turbotax issue or IRS issue. I see so many people already accepted and processing from other forums.

There was a hold on certain credits causing a pending status on returns. The pending status has been resolved and return statuses should be updated.

There could be a couple of reasons why you might be experiencing a delay:

1. First, the status might be pending for security reasons. This may be a sign that someone is trying to use your identity to file a tax return. This can take up to 72 hours, after which your return will then be forwarded to the IRS, or if applicable, rejected. If rejected, you can then correct the rejection issue and resubmit. Please see this FAQ for reference

.2. Secondly, there could be a delay if your return has various refundable credits, such as the Earned Income Credit, Investment Credit, Energy Credits, or Business Credits. You may need to wait a few more days and check your filing status again. Please see this FAQ for additional information.

Note: Both instances may be applicable. That is, you could have a hold for security reasons first. And additionally for verification of the refundable credits in your return. In this case, delays might extend beyond 72 hours.

Additionally, if you have Form 5695 and claiming joint occupancy, the IRS will not be accepting these returns until 3/16/25. You can see this on this IRS site. The language you see below is from Row 39 of the Tax Year 2024 spreadsheet.

Taxpayers claiming Joint Occupancy on Form 5695 will have to file via paper if filing their return before the Form 5695 schema is updated in mid-March. This temporary limitation should only impact a subsection of Form 5695 filers. I have been stuck on pending since 1/24. We bought an EV and transferred the credits to the dealership. We filed the forms we were told to. My returns are usually accepted within hours. Turbo Tax told me the IRS received my return 1/25. The IRS shows they haven’t received my return.

I can’t even file. I got my documents together and tried to be proactive. It’s been telling me that I have an issue that I can’t fix yet and they are working on a fix for it.

@TURBOTI submitted my return and it is still in pending status three days later. How long should I wait before filing with H&R block instead?

I have read the article saying it can take longer. My specific question is how long is too long and that I should take other action.

If you Efiled over 72 hours ago, check your Emails. You should have an email from TurboTax acknowledging that your return was successfully Efiled.

If you check the IRS site, Where's My Refund? does it say your Return was Received? If not, maybe you didn't complete your Efile. Go through the File section again. If you used TurboTax Online, when you Sign In, you should see that your return was filed.
