Question

I filed an ammendment to our taxes, we had already paid the federal amount due, but now I'm being told to mail in forms with the payment that we had already made.

    If the amount due was from your original return, you do not need to mail in that payment again.  If the amount due is a result of your amended return and you have not paid that amount yet, then you will need to send the payment in. 

     

    You can also look online and check your payment history directly with the IRS using this link.

    Make sure your 1040-X Line 16 shows all  amounts you already paid.

     

    It has been reported on this forum that TurboTax doesn't support this very well.
