Since the tax returns were e-filed there is nothing you need to mail to either the IRS or to your State.  That is the whole reason for filing electronically.

Okay but I opted to pay federal by check, on state I am receiving a refund. So I don't have to print out and mail state but I do have to print out and mail federal then? All 35 pages? Seems ridiculous

Why do you think you have to mail it?  If you e-filed your tax return and it was accepted, it was all done electronically.  You do not mail the return.   You can print it for your own records if you want to.

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note:  If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

Only on my federal, I opted to mail in a check rather than be charged $40 to pay electronically, I am receiving a refund from State. So I have to print out all 35 pages of the federal and mail with my check?  sheesh

NO.   If you e-filed your federal return all you need to mail with your check is the 1040V voucher.  You do not have to mail any of the other pages.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.
