Question

I finished filing my taxes and my return was accepted, but now I received a late 1099-B I was not aware of. How do I correct my return prior to the filing deadline?

I owed additional tax, and this new form will increase my liability, so I cannot wait and file an amendment later without incurring fines.

Don't make any changes until your tax return is fully processed, which means you have received your refund or if you have a balance due, it's deducted from your account. If your tax return is pending, don't make any changes. Once your tax return has been processed, you can prepare your amendment.
