Question

I need to make an adjustment to the 1040 before filing -- but I can't find a way to see the 1040 and edit it.

I made a qualified charitable deduction (QCD) from my IRA as part of my required minimum distribution, which reduces the taxable income. However, TurboTax doesn't ask about a QCD or provide any way to note it. There's supposed to be a field in the 1040 where you can indicate the QCD amount. But I can't find a way to bring up the 1040 and edit it.

For taxpayers age 73 or older, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) also count toward the year's required minimum distribution (RMD).

To report a qualified charitable distribution on your Form 1040 tax return, you'll use the 1099-R (even though there's no indication that it was a QCD). Enter the info as a 1099-R and you'll be asked in one of the follow-up questions if it was a Qualified Charitable Distribution.

TurboTax includes the full amount of the distribution reported on your Form 1099-R on line 4a (IRA Distributions) of your Form 1040 or 1040-SR. The taxable amount reported on Line 4b will be the total distribution less the QCD amount and will have "QCD" entered next to it.

With online TurboTax you need to pay for the software before you can view the actual documents.  Go to Tax Home the Print.  Then pay for your software and that will give you a pdf of your return.
