Question

If I filed a form 8606, but ended up not contributing, do I need to file an amendment and does it need to be done by 4/15?

    No, you have up to three years to Amend your return.  Amended returns are processed separately and can take up to 16 weeks to process.  Be sure to save a copy of your original filed return. You'll end up attaching the corrected Form 8606 to Form 140X.
