Did you mail it? Amended returns can only be mailed. It can take them 16 weeks for the IRS to process them. And they only mail checks for refunds. All you can do is wait until they finally get around to processing it ... this year it could take 6 month or longer due to the staffing shortage at the IRS.

Because it must be processed manually, and the IRS and states are understaffed.

Just curious have you recieved it yet? Mines been over 16 weeks still just says processing.

Due to the rampant understaffing the IRS is taking longer to process amended returns ... expect it to take 16 weeks or longer to complete. If you want to to complain to someone contact your congress person and tell them to fund the IRS properly so things can be processed timely.

I’m in the same position. They told me to resend mine AGAIN. But I’ve been getting different answers on wether it will take 16 weeks again ooorrr some have said it should only take 30 days this time around. What about you??
