Question

It will not accept my occupation half of 24. I was a restaurant hostess as of July 24 I have been retired ever since.

Occupation is only used for statistical purposes.  It has no effect at all on your refund or tax due.  You can use "retired" or "hostess"---whatever you want.  Occupation is entered in MY INFO.
