Did you enter the correct date of birth for yourself in MY INFO for 2023?  It goes by your age at the end of 2023. Look at your 2023 Form 1040.   What do you see on line 12?

2023 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

Single                                        $13,850(+$1850)

Married Filing Separately.       $13,850 (+1500)

Married Filing Jointly.              $27,700 (+$1500)

Head of Household.                $20,800 (+1850)

Additional amounts for age 65 or older or legally blind

Please clarify your question.

  • What filling status did you show?
  • What year was it 2023? 2024?
  • What was your age at the end of the tax year in question?
  • What amount does it show in box 11?

Please contact us again to provide some additional details.

The standard deduction line 12 and 14 is 15,700

Then 15, 700 is right for 2023 Standard Deduction.  The Standard Deduction for Single was 13,850 plus 1,850 for over 65 = 15,700.

For 2024 Single is 14,600 + 1,950 = 16,550.
