When I go to finish my return, I want to mail in my state and e-file my federal. I want to do this because Turbo Tax charges $64 to e-file my state return.  I don't know how to only e-file the federal return and print the state to mail in.  Does anyone know how to do this? (Turbo Tax Premium 2024)

When you use online TurboTax you pay separate fees for federal and state returns.  There is no fee to e-file when you use online.  You will save nothing by filing your state by mail.   In order to print the return, you have to pay for the state software that you used to prepare the state return.

@MT Question If you have been seeing comments in the forum about saving money by printing and mailing the state---that was referring to users who have the desktop download, which has different pricing.   Users of desktop software can avoid a $25 state e-file fee if they mail their state return.  That tactic does not work for online software.  With online, your fee is always the same whether you e-file or mail the return in an envelope.
