My 2024 return was accepted but e-payment isn't processed. I missed some entries and filed an amended return, TT wants me to mail the payment with check. Should I?

The payment amount is the same regardless of the amendment. I am not sure if the e-payment would take care of this. Obviously, I try to avoid paying twice.

If you arranged for the payment on the original return do not do anything.

The amended return should have reset to zero.
You can check your IRS account at Online account for individuals

You can access tax records

View key data from your most recently filed tax return, including your adjusted gross income, and access transcripts or tax compliance report
Check your refund
View digital copies of certain notices from the IRS
View information about your Economic Impact payments
View information about your advance Child Tax Credit payments
View your audit status (currently available for certain audits conducted by mail)

Don't need to send another payment (risking double payment) is ideal especially if IRS would process the original e-payment on the original return. But that is the part I am not certain. I don't understand why Turbotax wants me to make another full payment in check and mail the voucher with it but the wording was if I don't send in the payment with the voucher, the amended return is not complete. Because of it, TT makes me feel the first e-payment arrangement is going to be dropped for some reasons unknown and the check payment is now important for the complete filing.

Would IRS be "smart" enough not to process the second payment if the first is already processed? If not, how to get a refund on that double payment?

It might be easiest to set up an account with the IRS and see if they have your payment or Call the IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about your payment.

IRS Individual Online Account

With an IRS Individual Online Account, people can:

View, approve and electronically sign power of attorney and tax information authorizations from their tax professional.

If you want to check the debit date you specified, look on the filing instructions for your return. It will tell you the debit date the IRS or State will deduct the payment. If you did not print them out you can view them using the following steps:

TurboTax Online

In TurboTax Online, sign into your account.
You should be on your Tax Home page.
Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
Select 2024, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right menu).
Once you're in your return, you can navigate around as usual.
Click Tax Tools (in the black bar on the left of your screen) and then click select Print Center.
Click Print, save or preview this year's return

TurboTax CD/Download

Go into Forms Mode by clicking on the Forms icon in the top right of the blue bar.
In the Forms in My Return list on the left, click Filing Inst. [It's usually toward the bottom of the list.] The form will appear on the right side of the screen.
You can view the form on the screen or you can print a copy by clicking the Print box at the bottom of the screen.
To return to the interview, click on the Step-By-Step icon in the top right of the blue bar.
