Question

This is the first year that I am filing taxes jointly with my husband. At what part does it ask for his W-2 information?

When you are filing jointly the TurboTax program sections for entering income will ask for the owner of the income or the form, by Name.

Go back to the W-2 section and click on the button to add another W-2.  You will be askes who the W-2 belongs to .  Click on your spouse's name and continue.

Revisit your  "My Info" section and indicate that you are Married.  The program will ask for your spouse's information as you proceed thru the interview screen.

Add/Edit/Delete Form W-2:

  1. Open your return (if not already open).
  2. Enter "w2" in the Search box.
  3. Click on "jump to w2" link.
  4. Import or Enter you information manually.  If you land on your W-2 Summary income page, you can click on the “Add” button to add another W-2 or on Trash can to the right of that particular W-2 to delete it.

When you are entering income on a joint return, every income entry screen will either have a spot with both spouse’s names there, or when you click to enter a W-2, 1099R, etc. it will ask you by name which spouse it is for.  You do not have to wait for the software to “ask” you for your spouse’s income. Go to the screens to enter your spouse’s W-2’s, 1099’s, etc. just like you did for your own income.  Then look for your spouse’s name there.
