I got the same thing exactly. Ive read around and the 151 means its being reviewed still and that you may owe something weather it be a student loan a traffic ticket etc.... The 1242 means they are going to need something from you like proof of a birth certificate on a dependent or foster care papers etc... They should send you a letter explaining. I havnt gotten a letter yet. Im hoping this can be fixed because i dont owe anything never have i believe its because i claimed my two foster children for the first time.
I have the same code but with no reference number. I received partial of my federal refund last night. I havent received no letters & i dont owe any offsets so idk if j should call at this point or what
Code 1242 simply means that your return was e-filed 3 weeks ago and your refund is frozen while the IRSasks for more information such as a birth certificate for a dependent, etc.
what the problem with my tax and why it taking so long to get my tax refund back can you please help me out with this....
The IRS is seriously behind in processing 2020 tax returns. This is due to many factors, such as the pandemic, completing processing of millions of 2019 tax returns, stimulus payments, unemployment compensation exclusion tax refunds., changes in the tax code by Congress in the middle of the 2020 tax season and the like.
Millions of taxpayers have not yet received there federal tax refunds.
As of June 5, 2021,we had 18.2 million unprocessed individual returnsin the pipeline. Unprocessed returns include tax year 2020 returns such as those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.
After the tax return has beenAcceptedby the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in theProcessingmode until the tax refund has beenApprovedand then anIssue Datewill be available on the IRS website. See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's -https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions If over 21 days since being Accepted by the IRS and the tax refund is still Processing you can call the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning your tax refund.
