I didn't get any confirmation that my tax returns were filed. Why?

Also, I didn't see any deductions for my auto taxes paid to my town. Last year they were deductible.

Some emails end up in the Spam folder.  If you e-filed your can check the status of your return.

How do I check my e-file status?

The standard deductions for 2018 were increased, so for this year your Itemized deductions may have not been higher than your Standard deductions, if that is the case your auto taxes would not be included since they are an Itemized deduction.

Standard Deduction for 2018:

$12,000 for Single (was $6,350 for 2017)

$24,000 for Married Filing Jointly (was $12,700 for 2017)

$18,000 for Head of Household (was $9,350 for 2017)

$12,000 for Married Filing Separately  (was $6,350 for 2017)

The standard deduction is $1,300 higher for those who are over 65 or blind; it’s $1,600 higher if also unmarried and not a surviving spouse.

If someone can claim you as a dependent, you get a smaller standard deduction
