Question

TurboTax incorrectly asking me to enter date I will be paying my taxes

I filed our taxes on March 31. I received notice that the return was accepted and the amount we owed was already withdrawn from our checking account. We got a Schedule K-1 a couple days ago, so I have to file an amended return. I entered all the information needed, and we have money to be returned to us from both federal and state. I had TurboTax run a check before filing and it keeps taking me to Form 2210, Underpayment of Estimated Tax. It asks me to enter the date when I plan to send in the amount owed. I don't owe anything...we are OWED by the Federal and State treasuries. It defaults to the date when I initially filed my return. If I leave it just as it was and then recheck, it takes me back to that spot on Form 2210.

Help!!!

Are you following the steps to amend your return using TurboTax?

The amended return will tell you if you owe or will get a refund based on the Amended return as if the original refund was received (or the original tax was paid).

Could it be that the original return shows a larger refund than the Amended return meaning that you will need to pay back some of the original refund?

Yes, I followed the steps as prompted. We owed quite a bit with the original return, but that amount has already cleared my bank. I am owed a significant amount back with the amended return, according to TurboTax.

All was fine until I had it check over the return (as prompted to do), and that is when it keeps prompting me to enter the date I expect to pay the tax I owe.
