    Your federal income tax refund is the amount on Form 1040 line 35a in the tax return that you filed. If you are entering the refund amount in "Where's my refund?" on the IRS web site, you should enter the amount from line 35a.


    The amount that you actually receive could change if:

    • You have TurboTax fees taken out of your refund, OR
    • There is an offset against your refund for back taxes, child support, or other debts that you owe, OR
    • The IRS finds an error in your tax return, and correcting the error changes the amount of your refund.
