Question

Why is it when I sign into my account on irs.gov it says that I haven't filed my 2024 Income taxes when I did through turbotax?

How long has it been since you filed?   If you recently filed in the last few days, your IRS account may not have changed yet.   But there are some things you should check.

How did you file--by efile or by printing and mailing?

If you efiled, what is the efile status--was the efile accepted?  If you used Online TurboTax,  you can log in and check at the Tax Home.   Does it say accepted, rejected, printed, started, ready to mail, or something else?   If you used desktop software,  you can check using the software.

You should have also received 2 emails--the first saying the return had been submitted, followed by a later one about whether it was accepted or rejected.

If you efiled and were accepted, and if you are due a Federal refund, see what is displayed at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:

    https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

Here are some tips when using the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:

    • If you efiled, be sure you have waited at least 24 hours after acceptance before using the IRS WMR tool.   If you mailed a paper return, it won't show up in the tool for at least 4 weeks or longer.
    • Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN and filing status.
    • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.
    • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.
