Why is my federal return still in PENDING status? I called yesterday and spoke to a turbo tax "expert", supposedly hadn't been transmitted yet. What is the hold up.

It's been well over 48 hours. There's a ton of people sitting in the same boat. Not just me. Is TT having an issue and not being forthcoming?

It is not unusual for your return to stay in pending status for several days sometimes longer depending on the back log of returns filed and time it takes for the IRS to process them. Keep checking the IRS Where’s My Refund? site for updates. The tool is updated daily (usually in the overnight hours) so you don’t need to check more often. Please see the TurboTax FAQ What does "Pending" mean? for additional information.

I efiled on 1/29/25. I've NEVER stayed in pending status more than 24hours. I'm very nervous and concerned. What is going on?

I filed 1/23 and am still in pending status, I have called the IRS and they said there is no way it has transmitted because they always get accepted within 48 hours. I called TT twice one said it just sitting there with no holds not sure what is going call back in 48 hours, I did. Called a second time told me well this is unusual the irs is on backlog give it 48 hours so here I sit! I am NOT happy!

Same here. It was submitted on the 27th at noon. My first time ever waiting this long. Sucks!

I filed on the 18th. I have never had it stay in a pending status more than a day. Refund tracker on the IRS website says "The information you have provided does not match our records". Starting to get kind of mad.

One turbo tax rep told me that my return had not been transmitted yet and it would after the 48hr mark. I called back today, and that TT rep said it had been. I don’t know who to believe but I know that I will not be using TT next year. There’s a lot of other people with the same issue. I think it is a TT problem but they don’t want to admit it. Too many with the same issue.

As CatinaT1 mentions above, you can use this IRS tool Where's My Refund? to check on the status of your refund. It provides updates regarding the processing of your tax return. This is the best way to track the status of your refund.

You can also call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday.

The hold on processing tax returns due to the Path Act is only for tax returns claiming the Earned Income Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit.

When you e-file your tax return with TurboTax and choose direct deposit, the IRS should notify you that your return has been accepted within one or two days.

After your tax return has been "Accepted" by the IRS it will be" Processing" until the tax refund has been "Approved" and then you will see an Issue Date on the IRS website.

I'm reading some people went and filed with a different provider and theirs were accepted within 24 hours. This is a Turbo Tax issue.

Thats what I am thinking. I will have to do the same. But dont know what happen if I already submitted through turbotax.

I had been monitoring this situation and apparently, most people who filed before or the same day (some) the IRS opened their portal for submission had the same problem. I have never had a situation before with TT, I have been using it for more than 7 years without any issue. This year I went ahead and submitted my Taxes (Jan 19th) before the IRS date and still pending (Feb 1st - today). Then I helped some friends to do theirs on Jan 29th and (both) were e-filed and accepted the next day.
Does anyone from TT know what is going on, besides "keep waiting" after almost 10 days?

I would appreciate the clarification for all of us.

I had spoke 3 times with TT, all provide different information, not clear nser. They blame IRS. BS and lies from TT. Plus their people are very arrogants.

The TurboTax app said it's still pending I just called and they said the IRS received my taxes. Not understanding why the TurboTax app still says pending.

TT keeps telling me the same thing but IRS said they haven’t. That is the problem

Have been pending since 1/23. Seen on another post the delay could be is you purchased an EV last year; which we did. And supposedly the hold on the form for that was lifted Friday. So hopefully some of us will be seeing some changes soon. Still kind of ridiculous that we weren’t told any of this upfront

I filed the 30th and still waiting ! I’ve thought about going through a DIFFERENT platform to file !! I just don’t want the return to go through and I have 2 and owe that much back!

Mine is still pending for almost four days. What has been the experience....are these going through? I was thinking about trying H&R Block.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Submitted on Jan. 25th and it is still pending. NEVER has it taken this long. Usually it's 1-2 days MAX. Something is definitely wrong.

I filled my return and a separate return for my wife because we file separately on 1/23/25. I did not file the EV credit on either. We also did not have either of the tax situations listed that they say might delay the return. We have not received a call from anyone about verifying our identities and we have filled this way on turbo tax for multiple years. Both returns are still in the pending status . Turbo Tax told me to call the IRS the IRS told me to call turbo tax neither seems to give a **bleep** but they took my money no problem.

Turbo Tax just told me that it was submitted to the IRS but because I filled early on 1/23/25, My returns were put behind the people who filled after the start date of 1/27/25. How does that make any f!!!ing since. So now because I was proactive and did what they wanted me to do with all of there adds saying file early and get ahead of the line, I will have to wait for god knows how long to have my return accepted. Class action suit does sound like the right way to go for false advertising at the least.
