I have to amend a 1099-NEC because my employer just sent it. I already did a W2 from this employer and got my return back. Didn't know about this form until 4 days ago. Now I have to amend this. The employer have to pay for when I amend 1099-NEC because they was late sending it and wasn't aware.

this is unusual because you got a w-2 and generally, all compensation should have been reported on the w-2. With a 1099-NEC in addition to income taxes on this income, you'll have to pay about 15% in self-employment taxes. This may be an improper attempt by the employer to avoid penalties for late payment of taxes that should have been withheld and their share of the FICA and Medicare taxes by making you responsible.

As for getting the employer to pay, that's up to them. There's nothing in the tax law about this except for a small penalty for filing the 1099 late

The first 1099-NEC he had 17,648 on it when I reach out to him and ask where the figures came from he didn't reply only to send another 1099-NEC with amount 6,245 on it. I don't feel like I'm responsible for his screw up Cause on my w2 it wasn't alot of taxes coming out .
