how do i find transactions listed under box 1a and 8a of Schedule D in my 1099-B?

Are you sure you're looking for something on a Form 1099-B? A Form 1099-B does not have a "Schedule D" at least I've never seen one. Perhaps you are looking for something on a 1099-DIV, which is often included with Form 1099-B in brokerage 1099-Composite, which includes 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-OID, and 1099-MISC all in a single reporting package.

I am trying to match transactions which are reported in Box 1a and Box 8a on my 1099-Bs. i can find the amounts listed on box 1b, 2,8b and 9 on corresponding 1099-Bs.

Maybe you want form 8949 which lists all the individual sales that go to Schedule D. Did you import the 1099B from the broker?

Do 1a transactions also go on 8949. I thought only 1b and 2 transactions went on 8949.
