Question

NJ K-1

I reside in Massachusetts and received an IRA pass through from an estate.  I received a Federal K-1, MA K-1 and a NJ K-1 as the deceased probate was handled in NJ.  The executor established the estate account in MA and the deceased was a Massachusetts resident for 8 months prior to death.

Do I need to file a non-resident NJ return in addition to the MA return since I received a NJ K-1?

If you had no income sourced in New Jersey, you would not file a NJ state income tax return. You might contact the company that sent the NJ K-1 to confirm why you received this form.
