Question

S-corp wages - how to report income to 2 states (moved from OR to CA)

LLC  (filing as S-Corp) is based out of Oregon, started in Feb 2023 and I moved from OR to CA in August. Using Turbo tax downloaded software, completed Oregon paperwork.

Questions-

1) Right now,  Oregon S Corp Information worksheet, part III has  2/1/2023 ending date 12/31/2023. Should I leave it as is or change this to reflect my move and update it to end on 7/31/2023?

2) If I change that, then do I need to download/buy CA state and do the same edits to the short year fields and show the beginning and end dates as 8/1/2024 and 12/31/2024?

Thanks!

Yes, you should change the ending date that you were operating your business in Oregon to reflect the date you began doing business in California.  You also need to add California in order to file a California return for the period you were doing business in California.

I found out that I cannot just change the date in the fields, they are not editable. I installed CA state and it took me to apportionment of income form. Is this what I have to fill out?

The advice I got earlier to download CA state (another $50/) is totally wrong. Spoke to your online advisor and she mentioned that since I did NOT do business in two states, but only moved to CA, just generate K1 and carry that pass thr' income in my personal filing and report out. No need to download CA state

How can I get the $50/ refunded as I"m not going to use CA state?
