Question

Turbotax won't let me e-file due to w2 box 14 issue

Turbotax said I entered California SDI and/or VPDI greater than $1,378.48, the max withholding for 2023, suggesting that I might enter an incorrect code in box 14,  but my w2 box 14 has CA VPDI $1,378.48, the exact same amount. I only have one w2 and one CA VPDI, no SDI. I've tried to reduce the amount many times with no luck. I have not had such a problem in previous filings and I have been using Turbotax for more than 20 years.

According to the California EDD, the SDI withholding rate for 2023 is 0.9 percent. The taxable wage limit is $153,164 for each employee per calendar year. The maximum to withhold for each employee is $1,378.48.

Please try going back into your W-2 and deleting just the cents in Box 14, or deleting and reentering the W-2 without the cents in Box 14, and let us know if that resolves the issue.
