You can look on your schedule 2 while working on your tax return in TurboTax to see what the taxes listed there reference. Often you will have self-employment tax listed on line 4 of Schedule 2. That tax is based on your self-employment income and can approximate 15% of that income. It gets paid in to the Social Security system as it will fund your social security retirement benefits someday.

Line 2 tax is also common Excess advance premium tax credit repayment. If your marketplace health insurance (Obama Care) advance premium credit was too high based on your income in 2023, you may need to pay some of that back.

To view your form 1040 and schedule 1 to 3:

  1. Choose Tax Tools from your left menu bar in TurboTax Online
  2. Choose Tools
  3. Choose View Tax Summary
  4. See the Preview my 1040 option in the left menu bar and click on it
  5. Choose the Back option in the left menu bar when you are done
