Question

Why does Turbotax for Business not have an Import function?!?!?!

Hi,

To the Developers of Turbotax Business:

I have used Turbotax Home and Business for many years.

This year I have to file a 1041 for a Supplemental Needs Trust, so I purchased Turbotax Business.

OK, I don't understand why a 1041 for a Trust is not included in Home and Business, but I have to get this done under deadline.

Then I discover Turbotax Business does not have an Import function for importing a 1099-B.

May I ask WHY???

So I have to pay extra for another version to do what should be included in Home and Business, and then to add insult to injury, I cannot do things that Home and Business can do with ease?

So I now have to enter tens of stock sale transactions manually, or do a summary and go through the trouble of mailing this to the IRS?!?!? All of which would be unnecessary if the Business edition had the Import feature that Home and Business already has?

Please explain. I'd love to hear this one.

Thank you.

Lovely. Just lovely.

Customer is always right? Yeah, right.

I've been dealing with this issue for more than a decade. Here is the reason why: They want to sell you an outrageously priced Quickbooks license and are afraid that adding this capability will cannibalize business. It's simply the only possible reason after all this time.

This will be my last year using TurboTax. I'm cancelling my subscription after this season. They used to be the best but their competitors have blown by them now.

Happy Taxing!

I share this frustration and am extremely dissatisfied that TurboTax Business does not offer the import of 1099s.  I would not have purchased the program if I had known this ahead of time.
