Bettering my credit score

Without a financial picture of your debt, it's impossible to know if suggestions would apply to you or not. But I can give you some general guidance.

When it comes to debt, and you find yourself in so deep it feels like you'll never climb out of that hole, the very first number one rule is to *STOP DIGGING!!!*  That means you cut up all the credit cards, contac the issuers of those credit cards and close the accounts IMMEDIATELY! 

Now that does not mean what you owe on a credit card is due and payable immediately. You will still receive your monthly billing statements from the issuer just as you always have. You just will not be able to charge anything with the credit card, thus accumulating more debt.

Rule number 2 is "cash" for everything. So you pay things like your utility bills directly from your bank account (if you prefer to pay online) or via a check you physically write if you prefer to pay your bills by mail.
