Moving expenses and working from home

Hi,

My spouse and I moved between provinces as my spouse got a new job in the new province. I work from home and kept the same job. We sold our house (which was in my name only) and have been common-law for 5 years.

What we are wondering is how we can structure the moving expenses since we moved for her job? Am I able to put the moving expenses for my income, or can we put it on her income?

Since you and your spouse moved because of her job, you and your spouse should put the moving expenses on her income

When you claim moving expenses tax deductions, remember to keep receipts, invoices and supporting documents for all eligible expenses.  Canada Revenue Agency will require them if you are audited. It’s always best to keep any receipts related to your expenses for seven years
