    No, you cannot deduct home renovations on your personal home.  This will be added to your cost basis when you sell the home and will lower the profit on the sale of your home so be sure to keep your receipts.

     

    No, you cannot deduct commuting miles to and from work.  Commuting miles, even if self-employed, if traveling back and forth to an office or fixed location are not deductible.  Any miles as an employee are not deductible under current tax law.
