If you are age 24 or older and your gross income in 2024 was $5,050 or more then no one can claim you as a dependent.

As DoninGA already explained -- if you are 24 and you had income of more than $5050 in 2024, no one can claim you as a dependent.  If your mother goes ahead and claims you anyway and she files first, your own e-file will be rejected.   Mom will have to amend, but you do not have to wait for her to do that.  You can go ahead and say on your own return that no one can claim you---but you will need to file by mail.  You will not be able to e-file if Mom used your SSN on a tax return already.   Sorry you are not getting along with your mom.
