Hi there,

My daughter is 13 years old and an H4 dependent with ITIN; she doesn't have SSN due to being an H4 dependent.

When I checked the substantial present test, she is a resident alien. She stays with me and is dependent. Is she eligible for child tax credit for 2024?

Sorry--no.    You cannot get the child tax credit for a child who does not have a Social Security number.   If she has an ITIN you can get the $500 credit for other dependents.

No.  In order to claim the Child Tax Credit, she would need to have a Social Security Number that is valid for employment.

She would however, be eligible for the $500 Non-Refundable Other Dependent Credit.
