    No. However, if it was on passive income. you can claim the credit without having to file form 1116.

    You don't have to tell the IRS about the tax paid (though you do have to tell them about the income.)   However, you are entitled to a credit for up to the full $117 on the taxes that you paid on income that is also taxed by the US.
