Question

How do I get the software to allow me to deduct the sales tax for my car? It is not prompting for this information anywhere.

    Go to Tax Home 

    Deductions & Credits 

    Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

    Sales Tax     START

     

    Select "Try Sales Tax" 

    Select "EasyGuide"

    Enter your state and sales tax rate

    Select "Yes" for major Purchases  and enter the information regarding your new car 

     

    TurboTax will choose the larger deduction, but you can over-ride that if you so desire by checking the box for "Change your deduction" on the "We've Chosen a Deduction for You" screen 

    **Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post**Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on "Mark as Best Answer"
