An incomplete Form 2441 will be created if you start the Child and Dependent Care section but don't complete it. This can cause problems when attempting to file your return.

To resolve:

  1. While signed in to your return, search for child care credit (use this exact term) and select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
  2. This will take you to the Did you pay for child or dependent care in 2020? screen. Answer Yes (even if the real answer is no).
  3. Clear all boxes on the next screen, Whose care did you pay for? and Continue.
  4. Now you'll need to delete the 2441. From the left menu (tap in the upper-left corner on mobile devices to open the menu), select Tax Tools followed by Tools and and select Delete a Form in the pop-up.
  5. Scroll down the list of forms and select Delete next to Form 2441.
  6. Click Delete Form to confirm. You should get Form Successfully Deleted. Select Continue.
  7. Back at the Review Form List screen, scroll down to make sure Form 2441 no longer appears on the list. If it doesn't, you can select Continue With My Return.

I have followed these intructions, as well as others similiar suggestions, 5 times to get rid of this form and TT is still will not let me efile.  I even logged out at re logged back in.  This is infurating and I am stuck.   What is wrong with this?  I need to get the taxes done.  I can't start over with new email because I do not know enough of the old information.

Any other ideas please, do not tell be to do the same thing again.

The form will also be created if you have a dollar value in box 10 of your W-2, indicating that you received some type of daycare benefit from your workplace, either a workplace provided daycare or a dependent care flexible spending account. If you have an item in box 10, then every time you delete form 2441, it will be re-created, and you must answer the remaining questions before you can file. If you did not have a flexible spending account or workplace provided daycare, go back and check your W-2 and make sure that you do not have an entry in box 10.

Same issue here!!! Infuriating! No! There’s nothing in box 10 of my W2 either

There must be some information on the form. Go back to the child care section and go through it. Delete providers, delete each section until it is truly blank. Then delete the form. As long as the program has information it feels is valuable, it will not delete the form.
